City of Bellefontaine Job Posting Police Department Title: Dispatcher, Part-Time Rate of Pay: $17.35/Hour Job Responsibilities: Receives and records incoming complaints or requests for assistance; receives and transmits radio communications; obtains pertinent information and promptly dispatches personnel to emergencies, complaints, or disturbances; receives non-emergency calls and provides information of a general nature or transfers to desired party. Must operate computers to enter and/or retrieve information needed to assist safety personnel (performs background checks, vehicle checks, verifies warrants, etc…); updates information where appropriate. Must be able to speak clearly and concisely to members of the community both in person and while on the phone. Must be able to listen and comprehend information to be sure the information is properly disseminated. Operates modern office equipment; radio equipment; LEADS computer system. May be required to lift up to thirty pounds. Must be able to perform duties under high stress situations; answers 911 calls; must remain calm while operating police radio. Must be able to multi-task effectively and accurately. Must be able to exercise independent judgment and discretion. Qualifications: Completion of secondary education (diploma or GED). Keyboarding experience preferred. Additional Information: The hiring process will include an interview, background investigation, polygraph examination, and psychological examination. Part-time dispatchers help to offset the work schedules of the full-time dispatchers. With this in mind, the agency will do its best to help the successful candidate find a schedule that also fits their expectations. However; the operational needs of the agency will guide final decisions. The successful candidate should expect to be trained for several months by professional, qualified full-time dispatchers. Hours during training may fluctuate to provide the best opportunity of on-the-job experiences. An ongoing assessment of skills and abilities will be conducted during the training period. Eventually, the successful candidate will be provided a schedule that best fits the need of the agency. This position requires dedication and a desire to serve the community. Bellefontaine Police is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. Applicants must first take an online test by visiting the National Testing Network website and finding the Bellefontaine Police Department listing. From there, applicants will be prompted to take our test online and provided information on how to forward your test scores to us when completed. Then, each applicant will receive notice from our agency as to when our next physical agility test will be held. You must first pass the written test on the NTN site. Those who successfully pass the written test and the physical agility test will move on to the remaining steps in our process. Ultimately, a certified list of candidates will be formed to hire from. As vacancies arise, hiring will commence from that pool of candidates. The Bellefontaine Police Department is pleased to announce our next round of testing for the position of Police Officer.
In order to be eligible to proceed in our process, you must first take the online exam through the National Testing Network. This online registration process is managed by NTN itself, and not managed by the City of Bellefontaine. Each candidate must register themselves on the NTN website at the Bellefontaine Police Department location on their site. After you have successfully passed the written online exam, you must be sure to follow their process to send us your scores. Then, you must have also completed our application. Applications and NTN tests must be completed and returned to the Bellefontaine Police Department by Friday, May 27, 2022 at 4:00 PM to be eligible. Applications are available online here, or by stopping by our agency at 135 North Detroit Street, Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311. We can also send you an electronic version upon an email request. Applications may be notarized by our agency, upon request while you’re in-person. Those who successfully apply and successfully pass the NTN test will participate in the physical agility testing. Two practices will be available on June 3 and June 8. The actual test is Friday, June 10, 2022 at 12:00 PM, at the Logan County Fairgrounds.
