http://bellefontaineoh.myrec.com/info/activities/ SAFETY TOWN WILL TAKE PLACE THE WEEKS OF JULY 6-10 AND JULY 13-17. PLEASE NOTE SESSION OCCUPANCY IS LIMITED TO 12 CHILDREN PER SESSION DUE TO SOCIAL DISTANCING REQUIREMENTS. This is a free program held for children who will be entering kindergarten in the Fall. This program includes pedestrian safety, traffic signals and signs, fire safety, good and bad touch, not getting in cars with strangers and hazards of drugs, among other things. Instructors are trained officers from the Bellefontaine Police Department, Logan County Sheriff's Office and may be assisted by Township Officers and the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The instructors use films, lectures, coloring books, traffic signs and signals, and stress vehicle and bus safety during their time with the students. All sessions will be held at Mac-A-Cheek Learning Center (formerly Western Intermediate School) at 1130 W. Sandusky Ave. (St. Rt. 47 W) where the children will enter through the rear (north) doors. Classes last approximately two hours and are held Monday through Friday with both 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. sessions available. Parents may attend sessions with their children as needed or desired and should inform the instructor of their intent when signing in their child each day. We will be holding a FREE 5-day D.A.R.E. camp at YMCA Camp Willson the week of July 20th through July 24th, 2020. The hours of the camp will be from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Students in Bellefontaine City limits will have busing provided by Bellefontaine City Schools or students can be dropped off/picked up by parents for the week of D.A.R.E. camp. The deadline to apply for this camp is July 10th.
The Bellefontaine Police Department will be hosting two, one-day Youth Academy Classes in March 2020.
The classes will be on the following Saturdays, March 7th and March 14th. The class will run from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. These two classes are open to all Logan County high school Juniors or Seniors who have an interest in pursuing a law enforcement career or just want to explore the idea of that career path. Applications can be picked up in your High School's office or at the Bellefontaine Police Department. Applications need to be returned to your High School Office or the Bellefontaine Police Department no later than February 20, 2020. The course is FREE so pick the date that fits your schedule. |
