SAFETY TOWN WILL TAKE PLACE THE WEEKS OF JULY 6-10 AND JULY 13-17. PLEASE NOTE SESSION OCCUPANCY IS LIMITED TO 12 CHILDREN PER SESSION DUE TO SOCIAL DISTANCING REQUIREMENTS.
This is a free program held for children who will be entering kindergarten in the Fall. This program includes pedestrian safety, traffic signals and signs, fire safety, good and bad touch, not getting in cars with strangers and hazards of drugs, among other things. Instructors are trained officers from the Bellefontaine Police Department, Logan County Sheriff's Office and may be assisted by Township Officers and the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The instructors use films, lectures, coloring books, traffic signs and signals, and stress vehicle and bus safety during their time with the students.
All sessions will be held at Mac-A-Cheek Learning Center (formerly Western Intermediate School) at 1130 W. Sandusky Ave. (St. Rt. 47 W) where the children will enter through the rear (north) doors. Classes last approximately two hours and are held Monday through Friday with both 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. sessions available. Parents may attend sessions with their children as needed or desired and should inform the instructor of their intent when signing in their child each day.
