Due to the extreme heat conditions forecasted for this week – Republic Services will begin refuse and recycling collection one hour earlier. Please have your containers at the curb before 5:30 am on your collection day.

We have been advised that Republic Services will not be picking up refuse and recycling Wednesday, January 25th in the City of Bellefontaine due to weather conditions. Those customers who have Wednesday – Friday collection will receive service one day later as they will also run on Saturday.

Republic Services has advised the city of Bellefontaine that the recycling collection truck is being repaired and will not be in operation again until Friday, May 21, 2021 at the earliest. The recycling will be picked up by a refuse collection truck in two separate routes to allow for the necessary separation between paper items and container items. Please leave your recycling bins at the curbside until collected. We are sorry for the situation and confusion during this time. Thank you for your considerations.

Refuse Collection is an “Essential Service”. During this public health crisis it is imperative more than ever that we follow established policies to ensure the safety of our drivers who complete this work and to ensure that it will continue.
Customers who use the “Blue Bags” option – make sure that the bag is securely closed and not overfilled so that it might break when picked up.
Customer who use trash container options – All trash must be contained in regular trash bags, no loose trash in the can. The lid needs to fit securely – all additional trash will need to be in a blue bag set beside the container.
There will be NO Bulk Items collected during the Governor’s Stay at Home Order.
Recycling needs to be sorted – paper and cardboard in one bin; glass, plastics and metal containers in a separate bin. If you currently have just one bin – you may set out a similar size rubber maid like tub to separate these items or alternate and set out your paper one week and your containers a different week.
Non-compliance will result in your items left at the curb and there will be no call-backs.
