This is not a reminder — this is a call to action.
Many sidewalks throughout our city remain covered with snow and ice, creating unsafe conditions for students walking to school and bus stops, as well as for other residents who rely on them each day. Property owners and residents are responsible for clearing the sidewalks adjacent to their property.
City Ordinance Requirements:
1406.04 SIDEWALKS AND DRIVEWAYS
All sidewalks, walkways, stairs, driveways, parking spaces, and similar areas shall be kept in a proper state of repair and maintained free from hazardous conditions.
1406.05 REMOVAL OF SNOW AND ICE FROM SIDEWALKS
Property owners, occupants, or persons having care of property abutting a sidewalk are required to remove snow within the first four hours after daylight following a snowfall. When sidewalks are covered with ice, they must be made safe and passable by removing the ice or applying sand, salt, or other suitable substances.
Please take action today and clear your sidewalks.
If you have already done so, thank you. If you know a neighbor who may need assistance, please consider lending a hand. A few minutes of your time can make a significant difference in ensuring our children and community members can travel safely.
Let’s work together to keep Bellefontaine safe and accessible for everyone!

Bart Barok, Sox Real Estate, 5979 Dublin Rd., Delaware, OH 43015 is requesting variances for the property located at the southwest corner of County Road 11 and Township Road 216, Bellefontaine which is currently zoned R1. Variances to R1 zoning include permitting a minimum lot width of 60', a minimum lot size of 7,800 sq. ft., minimum front yard setback of 20-feet, minimum rear yard depth of 30-feet, and minimum side yard widths of 5-feet with a total side yard combined width of 10-ft. Additionally, he is asking for an exception to exclude single family lots from side yard modifications identified in chapter 1155.05(a) of City of Bellefontaine Codified Ordinances, so the side yard setback is 5' with no further modifications for this property. This property is currently zoned R-1 One-Family Residence District.
The application forms, maps and other pertinent information are on file in the office of the City Engineer for public inspection Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Accessible sidewalks are essential for the safety of everyone in our community, including students, pedestrians, and individuals who rely on safe walkways to reach their destinations. Your prompt attention helps ensure that everyone can travel safely.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping keep our city safe and accessible.

Residents who have vehicles parked on the street and who have access to alternative off-street parking, such as driveways, are asked to please use those options so the Street Department can safely and effectively clear the streets.
Please be reminded that City Ordinance 351.15 prohibits vehicles from being parked on a city street for longer than 72 hours, and City Ordinance 303.09 prohibits leaving junk or unlicensed vehicles on public or private property. Some vehicles currently parked on city streets have not been moved since before the snowfall that occurred last Sunday. These vehicles are subject to parking violations. If a vehicle meets the definition of a junk vehicle while parked on a city street, it is subject to tow.
Help us help you by moving vehicles off the street whenever possible.
Thank you for your cooperation.
