CITY OF BELLEFONTAINE
REFUSE AND RECYCLING PROGRAM
BE "SMART"-Save Money and Reduce Trash
The City of Bellefontaine provides a "Pay as You Throw" Program for our residents. By continued recycling efforts you will reduce the amount of refuse that costs you additional on your monthly billings and will also result in less refuse going into our local landfill. Many of the items that we commonly throw away are recyclable; paper, cans, bottles, magazines, plastics, glass jars, cardboard, paper/chip board and household batteries. All residents of the City of Bellefontaine are required to subscribe to an option level of refuse service. You may use either the City authorized blue trash bag, a regulation size purchased container or a leased 90-gallon container. Additional refuse that will not fit into your container can be placed in the City "Blue Trash Bags" and set out with your container. Current container stickers were mailed out to all residential customers prior to March 1, 2013 and must be attached in order to maintain regular pickup service. If your refuse is not properly contained - it will not be disposed of. Refuse will need to be set out on your regular trash day before 7:00 AM (may be set out the previous evening). All large items such as furniture and household appliances to be disposed of will require a bulky item tag that is available for purchase in the Utilities Office. Currently the City of Bellefontaine has contracted with Allied Waste Company a division of Republic Services to provide our refuse service. Refuse containers must be kept in a clean and sanitary condition. All refuse in containers should be bagged and contain no health hazardous materials. Let us all work together for a cleaner, safer community. If you have any questions regarding your refuse service, please call the
City of Bellefontaine Utility Department at (937) 592-3561.
Thank you for your considerate support!

There is no additional cost to recycle and remember all that you place into your recycling bins can help reduce the refuse option you will need. When using one recycling bin, please separate your paper and cardboard and place on top of your container items. When using more than one recycling bin, please separate your paper and carboard into one bin and place your container items in your second bin. Do not place broken glass or broken glass items into your bins for the safety of the workers. Also, do not place waste and garbage products into your bins or they will not be collected.
